The first thing most people do when they need a service or want to learn more about a company, is a quick Google search. As a business owner or service provider, you want your website to appear in relevant searches for your target audience, but many don’t know where to start or don’t have the budget to hire developers and designers. Website builders have changed that in recent years, and Wix is particularly popular in the site-builder arena thanks to its ease of use, flexibility, and great-looking designs. With Wix.com, anyone can create a professional-looking website in minutes, with zero development or design skill needed. In this article, we will provide you with a quick tutorial on how to create and set up your Wix account, how to create your first website with a Wix website builder, and how to access all of the features available to you.

Creating an Account

Setting up an account is very easy. Follow the steps below to have your Wix account up and running in minutes.

Step 1: Signing Up

Visit the Wix website: https://www.wix.com/ and click “Start Now”.

You will be redirected to a login page. Since you don’t have an account yet, click the blue “Sign Up” link above the form. You can sign in with your existing Facebook or Google account, or with an email by filling in your email and password and clicking Sign Up. No email verification or confirmation is needed.

Step 2: Build a Wix Website

After you sign up, you’re taken to the site-building process to build your first website. We will provide detailed instructions on how to build your site in the next section. If you don’t want to create your website right away, you can simply click the icon with your username at the top right of the page to view and change your account details.

That’s all there is to it! It takes only a minute to create an account, and you’re ready to go working on your new website.

Creating a Website

To create a new website, you can continue from where you were in the sign-in process, where you are asked “What kind of website would you like to create?”. If you’re not there anymore, click the Wix logo in the top left, and then “Create Your Website”.

You can also click the plus (+) sign at the top right of the page to create a new site at any time. Once you start, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Type of Website

Whenever you start a new Wix website, you’ll be asked what type of website you’re creating. This helps Wix offer more relevant templates based on the industry you’re in. You can choose one of the categories available to you, such as Blog, Restaurant, Wellness, Online Store, and more. Click the category that is relevant to you, or choose “Other” if you can’t find anything that fits.

Step 2: Choose a Method

Wix now has two different ways to build websites: Wix Editor or Wix ADI. The Wix Editor is the “regular” site builder that Wix offers. It allows you to choose a template, edit your site using the drag-and-drop interface, add apps, etc. The Wix ADI is fairly new, and is a great option for people who want to get a good-looking site ready as quickly as possible. It is a Wix website builder that uses artificial design intelligence to create and design a website for you, so that you don’t have to spend hours editing and changing your site until it’s ready to be published.

Since there are two methods to create your site, we’ll show you how it works with each one.

Step 3.1: Creating Your Site with Wix ADI

Wix ADI works in a simple and guided step-by-step method:

  1. Wix will ask you for information about your website, in order to create the best possible design. Describe your site using keywords that exist within the system. For example, if you are a photographer, and choose the best option from Wix’s suggestions.
  2. Next, you’ll be asked if your website needs any specific features, such as a blog, getting subscribers, or allowing your visitors to book an appointment. Check the boxes that are relevant to you, and click “Next”
  3. Write the name of your site, and click “Next”.
  4. Add your address, if relevant, or click “Skip”.
  5. The final step is where Wix ADI collects information from online resources about you in order to create a relevant and personalized website. It will show you information that it has found for you to approve before moving forward.
  6. Choose the design combination that you like from the options Wix ADI proposes.

Once Wix ADI creates your homepage, you will be able to follow the instructions to customize it.

Step 3.2: Creating Your Site with Wix Editor

The Wix Editor is very straightforward. You will be shown templates based on the category you selected in Step 1, but they are not set in stone. On the left, you have a menu of templates from all of the other categories, and you can browse each one to find the one that is right for you. You can also choose a blank template if you have designing skills and want to design something from scratch.

When hovering over a template you like, click “View” to see what it looks like as a live website, and Edit to select it for your site. Once you click “Edit”, you will be in the Wix Editor, where you can make changes, add texts, edit the design, add apps, save, and publish your site, among many other things. Editing Your Websites

Once you have at least one website in your Wix account, the dashboard will be available to you. First, click on the Wix sign in button, and re-enter your account details. If you are already logged in, you can simply visit Wix.com and you’ll be redirected to your dashboard automatically. If you can’t see your dashboard, click “My Sites” at the top menu. The Wix dashboard shows you all of your sites and their status: Published or Not Published. To edit a site, click the blue “Manage Site” button, and the Wix website builder will open. Remember to save changes and publish frequently when editing your site.

If you are not logged in, click “Sign In” at the top right of the page and enter your Wix login information.

Getting to Know Your Wix.com Account

All features that are not related to your website, such as billing, invoices, and upgrades, can be accessed by clicking the user icon at the top of right of the page. You can change your account settings, view and edit billing information, upgrade to premium, create personalized email accounts, and more. We recommend going through everything one by one to make sure all of your information is up to date and you know where everything can be located.

Wix Review

Wix is an easy builder for platformers to create and build good websites. While easy in usage, Wix features are packed in, especially for businesses with very specific purposes.

I completed a website with y’all but I can’t find it

If you didn’t publish your website, it may still be in draft form, in which case you’ll only see it once you log in to your Wix account and check your dashboard. I hope this helps!
